Fat Face event day 2
Urrrggghhh hangover and much less wind than yesterday.
Race 5
JP+6.6
Very little wind on the inside meant that only the pro sailors on big
slalom kit planed off the beach but I did manage to pump to the front of
the non-planing pack through the light wind zone. This allowed me to get
going quickly with clean air as soon as I hit the wind line. A good gybe
and wind all the way back to the beach found me way ahead of the majority
of the fleet. Finished 9th!!! Ooohhh baby. With my overall ranking now 12th
I was buzzing after this race and very excited at the prospect of a
possible top ten finish. I even went back onto the water straight after the
race to tune my kit and practice my mark roundings!
Race 6
JP+6.6
By now the wind had almost completely dropped. ARSE. I planed only once for
about 50 metres in the whole race. Furthermore when nearing the mark on
starboard a bloke who had gybed round it and was now coming back in on port
sailed straight into me. Git. 84th. Shouldn't have bothered.
I was really deflated after the last race but my mood turned to sheer joy
when I saw the final results. After six races and two discards in the
freeride fleet I had finished 9TH OVERALL!!! Absolutely mega mega chuffed.
Superb weekend. Bring on next year. :) :) :)
